15 million metric tons of CO₂ avoided thanks to solutions sold in 2023 by CHRYSO and GCP
Saint-Gobain Construction Chemicals is committed to the development of innovative and sustainable solutions that accelerate the transition of the construction sector. In this respect, the solutions sold by CHRYSO® and GCP® enabled its customers to avoid the emission of 15 million metric tons of CO2 in 2023.
The quantities of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions avoided were calculated on the basis of the comparative use of 3 product families: new-generation plasticizers and superplasticizers, cement additives and fluid screeds, within a geographical perimeter of 81 countries where CHRYSO and/or GCP products are marketed or distributed.
The study methodology was reviewed by Deloitte France, an independent third party, in 2022, and the conclusions are available in the appendix to the methodology.
The CHRYSO and GCP solutions considered in the study methodology concern 3 product families.
- New-generation plasticizers and superplasticizers, such as EnviroMix®, CHRYSO®Quad, CHRYSO®Optima 1000 and GCP’s AdvaCast®. Also known as water reducers and high range water reducers, they enable the cement content of concrete to be reduced or cement with a lower clinker content to be used.
- Cement additives, such as CHRYSO®AMA 100, CHRYSO®ICARE, Opteva® from GCP. These reduce the clinker content of cement.
- Fluid screed systems, such as Cemfloor® and MobiCem®. These reduce the volume of screed per m2.
The methodology is based on a structured approach with precise quantified data: solutions manufactured by Saint-Gobain Construction Chemicals were compared with an average solution considered to be the market benchmark offering the same functionality.
