NEW CEMENT ACTIVATION TECHNOLOGY FOR REDUCING CO₂ FOOTPRINT

19 November 19

Cement manufacturers are massively investing with the aim of reducing CO2 emissions. To that end, they take various actions: carbon capture and storage development programs, use of alternative fuel and reduction of clinker factor in cement. Reducing the clinker factor in cement is an immediate and efficient lever.

CHRYSO, as a cement additive expert, works closely with cement companies to support their commitment to lowering their clinker factor. In this respect CHRYSO officially launches its new CHRYSO®AMA 100 EL Activation Technology. It allows cement manufacturers to substitute clinker for alternative and more environmentally friendly, cementitious materials hence, reducing their carbon dioxide emissions, while preserving the mechanical strengths, durability and reliability of cement.

Providing extra-performance to reduce the clinker factor

CHRYSO®AMA 100 EL Technology enables to extend the use of locally-available cementitious materials such as limestone, slag, fly ash and pozzolana, lowering the clinker factor still further, without compromising on quality. Compressive strengths at both early ages and 28 days are improved in blended cements regardless of the type of mineral additions. These improvements in strengths can be converted into additional clinker reduction in cement composition.

CHRYSO aims to assist cement players in designing more environmentally friendly cements that perform better in a more profitable way.
CHRYSO®AMA 100 EL Technology also acts as a powerful grinding aid to lower production costs. This modular solution can increase productivity by 10% to 15% and reduce energy costs depending on the process and expectations.

A team of technical experts assisting in the design of tailor-made solutions

CHRYSO experts provide full support in the assessment of cement manufacturers’ on-site needs and design tailor-made solutions for their technical and production requirements. In this context, CHRYSO®AMA 100 EL Technology can be adjusted to offer the right cement performance. On site CHRYSO technical experts will support customers during industrial trials to validate product performance and optimize the dosage. CHRYSO provides cement manufacturers with a complete statement of the environmental and economical benefits of the solutions.

CHRYSO’s global approach guarantees a consistent solution to tackle the reduction of clinker factor. Achieving an average global clinker ratio of 0.60 by 2050, as set out by the International Energy Agency’s 2018 Technology Roadmap, could slash the process carbon dioxide emissions by 364 million tons globally [1].
CHRYSO is pleased to offer its CHRYSO®AMA 100 EL Technology as a solution to help the cement industrials realize this ambitious — but achievable — goal. CHRYSO will continue to support them in their efforts to reduce emissions further.
